Korea Expressway Corporation Hi-Pass’ Jung Dae-young continues to show that age is nothing but a number. Despite becoming 42 years old this year, she remains a top middle blocker.
According to betting odds experts, this 41-year-old middle blocker has the third-greatest per-set block average in the 2022-23 V League season, with 0.75.
Jung is the oldest middle blocker on the top five blocks per set scorers this season, all of whom are experienced.

With a score of 0.766, Han Soo-ji of the GS Caltex Seoul KIXX is in the first place, followed closely by Kim Su-ji of the Hwaseong IBK Altos in second place. Bae Yoo-na, Jung’s partner and average opponent blocker, is in fourth place. Fifth-placed Yang Hyo-jin of league-leading Suwon Hyundai Engineering & Construction Hillstate scored 0.736.
Since the second part of the season just started this week following the all-star break, moving up on her list is definitely within her reach, as neither Han nor Kim are substantially ahead of her. Thus, fans betting on sports Korea are cheering for Jung.
Even in the Hi-Pass’ first game back from the break, a 3-0 victory over Daejeon Korea Ginseng Corporation at Chungmu Gymnasium in Daejeon on Tuesday, Jung’s poise and leadership shone through.
The 1.33 blocks per set averaged by Jung was good for second in the competition, behind only the 1.67 blocks per set averaged by Bae.
On Thursday, Hi-Pass had accumulated six more points than KGC and was in third position out of seven teams. According to Korea sports news reports, part of the team’s continued third-place finish may be attributed to Jung’s strong play.
Given her track record, the seasoned player’s current output was to be expected. Since her 2005 V League debut with Hillstate, she has posted impressive numbers in that category year after year.
