Here are the types of hands you can build:
POKER GUIDE: HANDS
This is the best hand you could get in poker. The easiest way to explain this, is that it is a combination of a flush and a straight. All of the cards must be in the same suit, and will consist of cards from ten, jack, queen, king and ace.
It is very similar to the royal flush. All cards are in the same suit but with five cards in a sequence.
FOUR OF A KIND
You get this hand if you have four cards of the same rank, plus one “kicker”. The kicker is important because in the event of a tie, the player who has a highest kicker, or side card, wins.
Next, is the Full House. Full house is simply a mix of a three of a kind and a pair together. If there is a tie, the three of a kind’s highest number wins.
A flush is made up of cards if the same suit, without a sequence. And if there is a tie, the highest ranked card wins.
Of course, a straight is made up of cards in sequence that are of any suit. In a tie, of course, the highest card wins.
THREE OF A KIND
Next, Three of a kind is three cards of the same rank, with two kickers. Similar to a four of a kind, the kicker’s value lies in breaking a tie.
This hand is made up of two sets of pair, plus a kicker. As always, the kicker will break a tie.
Meanwhile, a pair is two cards of the same rank, plus three kickers.
If you can’t build any of the hands, a high card is simply the highest card you have in your hand.
