After playing for more than 20 years in the Women’s Korean Basketball League, or the WKBL, Lim Yung-hui is retiring. In the latest in basketball news, Lim hung up her Asan Woori Bank Wibee jersey last March 18. Most of the general public, as well as basketball betting fans did not initially know who Lim was. Those who have been betting in sports know how a player can make a great impact on a team. You can read some sports betting tutorials to get tips like this. Especially during her first 10 years playing professionally.
However, Lim proved to be a great sixth man, and eventually, her efforts were recognized. She started gaining popularity both in the WKBL and in the National Team. The Wibee has been a popular team in the league. They have been consistently leading the ranks in the regular season, as well as the championship since way back in 2012.
Lim, a well-respected basketball player
Of course, the surprising loss during the playoffs last March was a blow to the team. It also served as Lim’s last season in her career. Lim has played 600 games over the span of 20 basketball seasons. She averaged 8.74 points per game. As for her playoffs numbers, she has been part of 43 games. There, she has an average points per game of 9.58.
Lim began her basketball career as early as high school where she played for Masan Girls High School. Then, she started her career as a pro player in 1999 when she played for Gwangju Shinsegae. This team is now called the Bucheon KEB Hana Bank. She started her rookie career with a splash, but somehow got relegated to the sidelines after a while.
But moving to the Wibee was a great decision/ In the 2009-2010 season, Lim joined Wibee and her star started to shine again. During the 2012-2013 season, Lim, along with Park Hye-jin, have led their team to victory. Since then, the Wibee have been winning regular season and championship titles. Her popularity and skill also earned her a spot on the national team.
Lim’s efforts were appreciated, of course. She won the MVP award for the regular season as well as the championship back in 2012-2013. In the 2013-2014 season, Lim won the MVP for the championship. She was also part of the list of the seasons top 5 forwards, in three years. She also broke the record for the most number of games played – 600. It is truly a loss to the WKBL to have Lim retire her jersey. Even fellow players from different teams have expressed their sadness. It all means that not only did Lim leave the WKBL as a great player, but a well-loved player, too.
